The Braves, who sent 9 wrestlers to the Northeast Regional tournament,
had to settle for a single state qualifier, as perennial District 11
powerhouses Northampton and Easton ran away with the show.
Sophomore Andy Hoffman (145) was the only Shik wrestler to qualify
for States. Hoffman fought his way into the finals, only to lose
2-1 to Keith Kleckner of Pottsville. Senior Adam Renn (140) also had a shot
at qualifying, but was beaten 3-2 in the consolation finals by
Paul Turk of Whitehall.
Shik placed 7th overall and even managed to outscore District 4 champion Milton
by half a point.
